Exciting Things Going on @ the Park

We are doing some exciting things at the Florida SKP Co-op! We have a beautiful park with lots of amenities that we truly wish to share. Our park is relatively small with 127 sites, plus overflow and boon docking. It is a wonderfully green park with open grassy common areas, lots of palm trees and spacious RV sites. Our park is in the town of Wauchula, which has been designated a “Main Street Community”. Wauchula was settled as far back as 1840. The town was developed around the Florida Southern Railway track built in 1886. The town has thrived over the years. The name “Wauchula”, is a derivation of the Miccosukee Indian word, (wa-tu-la-ha-kee), meaning “call of the Sand Hill Crane”. For the past two (2) years we have had Sand Hill Cranes nesting in our retention pond; so when you’re in the park, listen for the call of the cranes.

We know that times are harder now than they have been in the past so what can we do to help you experience our park?

Well, one thing we can do is to offer a better monthly rate. This summer and fall we are offering an extended stay discount. From April 15 to November 30 you can stay for four (4) weeks for the price of three (3). This amounts to a savings to you of $98. Now…what will you do with this extra windfall? You could visit Disney World or Busch Gardens or just relax at our pool and enjoy cookouts and pool parties.

Our Fun ‘n Sun committee will be on the job early in November with planned events. Our Veteran’s Day celebration will blow your socks off.  We are planning a “Landmark Hunt” that will have you laughing until you cry and then you will sooth your cheeks with make-your-own Ice Cream Sundaes. Our Thanksgiving dinners are “to write home to Mum about”. And don’t forget our Christmas Eve celebration and Christmas Day dinner. A New Year’s Eve dance will have you twirling around the floor until the wee hours of at least 10 pm (or longer if you desire).

CRACKER CAPERS will be held from January 19th to 22nd, 2011. Join us for a “crackin” good time! Our CRACKER CAPERS are legendary for the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Our tentative schedule includes: lavish breakfasts & scrumptious meals, a side-splitting auction, a whopping bingo, attention grabbing local history speakers, raffles of enviable quality, various forms of comical entertainment, our own silly version of casino night with fashion show, and a hilarious “Cupcake” contest. There will barely be time this week to fit it all in. Be sure to be here early.

We hope we have enticed you to come to our park and see for yourself what we have to offer. And remember, when you’re here listen for the call of the Sand Hill Cranes.

As members of the National Escapees Organization there is much information available to you on their official site. Visit www.escapees.com for information about our club and information to assist you in your travels.
